Study on a Learning System to Support Evaluation and Reflection of Asynchronous Online Trial Lesson Using a Small Mobile Device

The purpose of this study was to develop a learning system that supports asynchronous online trial lessons on small mobile devices for students who wish to become a teacher, by helping them to become aware of their teaching skills through the comparison of opinions, and to reflect on their own teaching skills from multiple and different perspectives. The video annotation function to give opinions (reviews) to the trial lesson class video is important, and we realized an interactive interface suitable for small mobile devices, and a system to let students evaluate and reflect from multiple perspectives by viewing the reviews of the instructor and the observer in comparison.

Study of English Speaking Practice Systems Focusing on the Use of Previously Learned Knowledge

Japanese intermediate English learners who have already learned basic knowledge of English vocabulary, grammar, etc. have problems in “using what they have already learned” in English speaking. For this practice, it is necessary to reduce the burden of “conceptualization” and provide support in two areas: “syntactic processing” and “vocabulary retrieval”. In this study, we aimed to clarify the following three points. (1) What are the most effective tasks for Japanese intermediate learners of English to practice on their own to enable them to use previously learned material in speaking, (2) To what extent can practice support be systematized to increase the effectiveness of the tasks, and (3) To what extent is the practice support system developed effective for learners’ speaking?

Development and Evaluation of Interactive Review Teaching Materials for Junior High School Science

In this study, we developed an interactive review material for junior high school science class to review knowledge and foster self-efficacy in learners with lower-middle grades without making them feel inferior. The material is a friendly interactive format, similar to a conversation with a friend on a social networking service, and features a choice-type quiz that allows students to review their existing knowledge while showing empathy. Expert evaluations were conducted by current junior high school teachers.

Effect of Type of Music Listened to During Breaks on Work Stress Reduction

In this study, we examined the effects of different emotional valence of music listened to during breaks on the effect of work stress reduction. The music used was Canon, which has a high affective valence of affinity, and the Star Wars theme, which has a high affective valence of intensity. It was shown that the stress reduction effect might be influenced not only by the emotional valence but also by the frequency of listening and preference.
